09 October 2017
Robotics Day 2017 was held in Hall 1 at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability on the 9th of October. Jointly organised by the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and Singapore Robotics & Maker Academy (RMA), Robotics Day 2017 is an event designed for SMEs and individuals to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The event attracted more than 70 participants, with participants from sectors such as education, manufacturing, F & B and public transportation.
Robotics Day 2017 kicked off with an opening address by e2i’s CEO, Mr. Gilbert Tan, where he spoke about the adoption of Robots and AI in industry, and how it can be used to boost productivity and raise competitiveness.
He then handed over the time to Dr. Zhou Changjiu, Director of Singapore Robotics & Maker Academy (RMA), who gave a live presentation involving robots such as the iPal (Humanoid Robot) and Loomo (Mobility Robot), to demonstrate the function and capability of robots. Dr. Zhou spoke passionately on topics such as Building Digital Confidence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and also the role of Robots and AI in Industry and Society. Enthused by the sharing session, the participants were now ready for the next part of the event - the AI e-enabled robotic training workshop.
